Chris Wadell Becomes First Athlete to Summit Mount Kilimanjaro Without Use of His Legs

Super-athlete and former Paralympic ski racer Chris Wadell made history this afternoon, becoming the first ever paraplegic to summit the treacherous Mount Kilimanjaro as he arrived, right on schedule, at the top of Africa’s highest peak, a towering 19,340 feet.

The innovative athlete began the trek on September 24, climbing with a specially designed cart called the “Bomba,” which allowed him to traverse steep terrain using his arms. His team, One Revolution, accompanied him while documenting progress on his blog. Today, they declared victory:

“This just in… The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro was successful! This is wonderful news and we are so very excited.”
