Friday Nightcap: Bode Miller Dines, Texans Drink, Locals Dance
A week after the Sundance crowds left Park City, locals reclaimed the social scene on Friday in a calm night out before a new President’s Day storm.
Adolph’s restaurant swapped movie stars for ski celebrities as Bode Miller came in with a pretty brunette. The Olympic silver medalist and on-again U.S. Ski Team member will compete in his third Olympics next week in Vancouver. A close friend of Adolph, a former Swiss ski team member, the downhill champ sat at Adolph’s table after being seated by the chef himself.
The nightlife scene saw a refreshingly local crowd as Radius played to a decent crowd at Downstairs and The Spur filled its dance floor with fans of new freestyle jam band, Wurm. The bar also drew its share of tourists, including a group of mildly buzzed gals so gleeful to find their destination, they nearly slipped on Main Street sidewalk. ”This is the alley!” they squealed. “This must be the Spurs place. We’re coming in!”
Woefully for the dozen Texan skiers also out on the town, they hadn’t figured out where the imported ladies were drinking. After dishing $10 a dude at The Sidecar, the twelve-some filled a both and downed some shots by their lonesome, lamenting the absence of Park City females. “I know we should have gone to Aspen,” one told his group. “It’s further from the airport, so they stay right there in town longer.” At that point, they weren’t getting any local help…
Among notable locals relaxing at the The Sidecar were longtime social luminary Micheal Martin, Mary Jane’s owner Lori Harris and several members of the Park City Men’s Soccer team, including Jesse Blaise, Marky Thim and Kevin Meade. Ulysses headlined the evening, bringing a rock vibe to an otherwise mellow night.
