After leaving a Facebook message for aerialist Jeret “Speedy” Peterson about Team USA’s new Ralph Lauren turtlenecks — saying they made the athletes look like they’d suffered neck injuries — Speedy replied that he’d give Jackson the sweater when he returned from Vancouver. Seeing the opportunity to inspire the three-time Olympian even beyond the lure of the podium, Jackson made an unusual promise. If Speedy gets a medal, Jimmy will wear the Olympic sweater for all to see in City Park on the hottest day this summer — with Bermuda shorts.
